Plenty of adults put off straightening their teeth because they assume braces mean metal in every meeting, months of food rules and a standing monthly appointment. Clear aligners change most of that. At Premiere Orthodontics in Winter Springs, Dr. Jason Battle, a board-certified orthodontist with over 20 years of experience, treats adults with Invisalign® and 3M™ Clarity™ Aligners, and there is no upper age limit. A broader overview of adult clear aligners covers both brands. Ready to find your confidence at 82 years young? We’re all in!
Reasons Adults Seek Treatment
For some adults the motive is appearance: they hide their smile in photos or on video calls. For others it is function. Signs that an exam is worth scheduling include:
- Crowded, crooked or gapped teeth
- Difficulty biting or chewing
- Grinding or clenching
- Jaw pain, popping, clicking or shifting
- Persistent mouth breathing or poor sleep
Aligners can treat crowding, protrusion, spacing and malocclusions such as overbite, underbite, open bite, crossbite and midline misalignment. Some adult plans add small attachments or rubber bands to make specific movements more effective.
Fitting Aligners Around a Workday
Trays come out for meals, so a business lunch or dinner out does not require planning around brackets. They are clear and smooth-edged, so most colleagues and clients will never notice them. The working part of the routine is discipline: aligners need to be in at least 20 to 22 hours a day, which means putting them back right after you eat and brush.
Office time is kept short. We do not overbook, and we use on-demand scheduling so you come in only when a visit is necessary. Between visits, you send progress photos and video through the DentalMonitoring app, and Dr. Battle reviews them to confirm your teeth are on track. Our office is conveniently located off SR 417, and fewer in-office visits means less time away from work.
Students at UCF and Nearby Colleges
We treat students from UCF, Valencia College, Rollins College and Full Sail University. Aligners work well with class schedules, internships and interviews, and virtual check-ins carry on even when a semester gets busy. We also offer a student discount, along with discounts for military members and first responders.
When Adult Cases Are More Complex
Adult jaws have finished growing, so some problems that are simple to guide in a child are more involved later. Dr. Battle evaluates how your teeth, jaws and joints work together. If jaw discomfort is part of the picture, the TMJ and TMD treatment page describes how those symptoms are assessed. In the rarer cases where the jaw bones themselves are significantly out of position, aligners or braces may be paired with corrective jaw surgery performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, with Dr. Battle handling the orthodontic side.
Dr. Battle often treats adults who were told elsewhere that aligners were not an option for them, and he works to align teeth without extractions whenever the case allows. That is part of what the practice means by the points on its what sets us apart page.
Aligners, Braces or Both
An adult whose bite needs more control than trays alone can give may do better with discreet clear ceramic braces, or with a hybrid plan using aligners before or after braces. Since every option costs the same, Dr. Battle can recommend based on the result rather than the bill. The adult braces page covers the fixed options in more detail.
Your Consultation and Starting Treatment
The first visit is complimentary and includes a TRIOS scan of your teeth, low-radiation digital x-rays, photos and a one-on-one conversation with Dr. Battle. If you already know you want to begin, tell us when you book and we can reserve time for a same-day start so your aligner scans are complete before you leave. Keep seeing your general dentist for cleanings during treatment; Dr. Battle is happy to coordinate with them.
Our Winter Springs office is at 5733 Canton Cv, near Tuskawilla Rd and Red Bug Lake Rd, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Adults from Casselberry, Altamonte Springs and Winter Park are a short drive away; the office location page has directions.
Cost, Insurance and Whitening for Life
We offer low or no down payment, zero-interest in-house financing, and outside plans through CareCredit or LendingPoint; the payment plans and insurance page lists each option. We accept most insurance, including PPO, HMO and DeltaCare, with a Medicaid discount, and aligners qualify as FSA and HSA expenses. After your final set, you can return for free professional teeth whitening for life. If you complete treatment and later relapse from not wearing your retainer, the Lifetime Guarantee covers replacement braces, apart from a nominal monthly adjustment charge and a new retainer.
Adult Clear Aligner FAQ
Am I too old for clear aligners?
No. Healthy teeth and gums can be moved at any age, and the exam tells us whether your case suits aligners.
Can I use my FSA or HSA for aligners?
Yes. Clear aligners are an eligible FSA and HSA expense, and our team can walk you through applying those funds alongside your insurance.
My teeth moved after braces as a teenager. Can aligners fix that?
It’s never too late to fix it. A complimentary exam with Dr. Battle will show whether clear aligners are the right fit for your smile now. Call (407) 699-1200 or book a New Patient Exam to find out.
