It is never too late to straighten your teeth or fix a bite that has bothered you for years. At Premiere Orthodontics, Dr. Jason Battle treats adults at every stage of life. Adult orthodontics can improve how you look, but it can also make chewing, jaw comfort and daily oral care easier.
Why Adults Seek Orthodontic Care
For some adults, the reason is cosmetic. For many others, it is functional. Teeth that overlap are harder to clean, and a bite that does not meet evenly can strain the jaw. Adults often come to us with concerns like these:
- Crowding or spacing that has worsened over time
- Teeth that shifted after earlier treatment because a retainer was not worn
- Difficulty biting or chewing
- Grinding, clenching or jaw pain
- Jaw shifting, popping or clicking
- Persistent mouth breathing or poor sleep quality
When jaw pain or clicking is part of the picture, Dr. Battle evaluates the joints, muscles and bite together. Our approach to TMJ and TMD treatment may include bite correction with braces or aligners, custom nightguards or coordination with other providers.
Discreet Options That Fit a Professional Life
Most adults want treatment that does not draw attention in meetings, on video calls or at the front of a classroom. You have three choices, all at the same price:
- Clarity™ clear ceramic braces, with tooth-colored brackets that are hard to notice in conversation
- Clear aligners, removable trays that come out for meals and brushing
- Metal braces, the most familiar option, made of durable stainless steel
Dr. Battle is a clinical expert and speaker for clear aligners, and he sometimes combines aligners and braces in one hybrid plan when that serves the bite best. Adults who are mainly considering trays can learn about clear aligners for adults, and our adult braces overview describes each option further.
Treatment That Respects a Work Schedule
The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so we work to keep the number of trips small. DentalMonitoring lets you send photo updates of your teeth from your phone. Dr. Battle reviews them and schedules an in-office visit only when an adjustment is actually needed. We are known for short wait times and do not overbook, so the visits you do make stay brief.
Your first appointment is complimentary and includes digital x-rays, diagnostic photos and a TRIOS 3D scan, so there are no putty impressions. If you would rather not wait, ask about a same-day start, and we can often place braces or complete aligner scans at that first visit. The office sits off SR 417 near Tuskawilla Rd and Red Bug Lake Rd, which makes it practical to stop in before or after work from Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Casselberry or the UCF corridor.
Complex Bites and Second Opinions
Adults sometimes arrive after hearing that their case is too complicated or that extractions are the only route. Dr. Battle is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics with more than two decades of experience, and he frequently treats patients who were told elsewhere that they were not candidates for their preferred treatment. His approach favors aligning teeth without removing them whenever possible. You can read more about what sets our practice apart.
When a jaw discrepancy is too significant for orthodontics alone, Dr. Battle refers patients to an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon for corrective jaw surgery, which repositions the jaw bones to improve the bite. Once the jaws have healed, he reassesses the bite to make sure treatment has achieved its goals. He also uses 3D cone beam imaging to examine the airway, joints and jaw bones before recommending a plan.
Caring for Your Teeth During Treatment
Adults tend to be diligent patients, and that diligence pays off. Keep brushing carefully around brackets or cleaning aligners every time you brush, and keep seeing your family dentist for regular cleanings, because orthodontic treatment does not replace those visits. Dr. Battle is happy to coordinate with your dentist on any needs throughout your treatment.
The first few days with new braces can bring some soreness. Soft foods and an over-the-counter pain reliever usually help, and a warm saltwater rinse can soothe irritated tissue. If a wire pokes, cover it with orthodontic wax and call us.
Paying for Adult Treatment
Insurance benefits for adults vary, so our treatment coordinator checks yours and files the claims. We accept PPO, HMO and DeltaCare plans and offer a Medicaid discount. Payment choices include zero-interest in-house orthodontic financing with low or no down payment, CareCredit or LendingPoint, and braces and aligners qualify as FSA or HSA expenses.
Your result is protected by our Lifetime Guarantee once you complete full treatment: if teeth shift later because you did not wear your retainer, Dr. Battle replaces the braces, and you cover only a nominal monthly adjustment charge and a new retainer. Free professional teeth whitening for life is included as well.
